Award-winning designer, Erdem Moralioglu, has been in the news a lot lately. Everyone has been speculating who will be designing Meghan Markle’s two dresses for her royal wedding to Prince Harry in May. Erdem is on the list of potential designers especially since he is a favorite of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who also happens to be Prince Harry’s sister-in-law.
Personally, I am excited about the other reason why he has been in the news. Erdem and NARS
Cosmetics have recently launched their first makeup collaboration which resulted in a 13-piece collection of spring essentials entitled,” Strange Flowers.”
I had the opportunity to see the collection up close and personal at the recent launch event at the NARS Cosmetics boutique at the Forum Shops at Caesers Palace. Once again, it was another fabulous event hosted by Christie Moeller with hair and makeup demonstrations, cocktails and makeup tips from NARS artist, Sheena.
In this collection:
– Mattifying Blotting Paper
– Universal Highlighting Pencil (White Phox)
– Eyeshadow Palettes (Night Garden and Fleur Fatale)
– Lipsticks (Carnal Carnation, Voodoo Lily, Moon Orchid, Bloodflower, Wildflower, Larkspur)
– Lip Palette Powder (Poison Rose)
– Blushes (Loves Me and Loves Me Not)
The packaging is so demure and lady-like, adorned with original floral prints designed by Erdem. It is so pretty that you just want to leave it on display on your vanity or secretly want someone to ask what’s in your bag so you can pull the collection out and have them marvel in its beauty.
I love all the lip colors in this collection! It’s like looking at a bouquet of flowers with a mix of sheer and soft to bold and beautiful colors. I particularly liked the Bloodflower lipstick because I am very partial to red. I applied this on my lips and although it looks like it would be somewhat bright, it was more of a subtle, medium red with a bit of a shiny finish. I also liked the Larkspur shade. This looks like a berry or mauve color and does not appear to be too bright on my lips. My skin is fair to medium in color so darker colors never look ‘too much’ on me; I also don’t mind being a little “extra” anyway! All the lipsticks are enriched with vitamin E to keep the color in place. After I tested these lipsticks, I found they stay on for about 4-6 hours and have a velvety, creamy, and semi-matte finish.
I must make mention of the Mattifying Blotting paper! What an ingenious idea to add this piece to the collection! This is a perfect addition for those who tend to get a bit oily especially in that T-zone area!
