Bellagio, Vegas, Las Vegas, coronavirus

The day is finally upon us.  Las Vegas casinos are poised to reopen on June 4th after nearly a two month state-ordered closure due to the coronavirus.  Although it is unrealistic to expect to see the 49.5 million visitors we had last year, strict guidelines have been put in place, by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, to ensure the safety of each one of the visitors who do come to our fabulous city.

When you walk into the casinos, you can expect to see signage reminders to wash your hands, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and to not touch your face. Below is a list of other precautions that will be taken.

Casino Floor

  • Guests will be encouraged to wear a mask which will be provided upon request
  • Scanners will be installed to check guest’s temperature upon entry
  • Hand sanitizing / washing stations will be strategically placed throughout the casino
  • Gaming machines, chairs, and other equipment will be cleaned and disinfected with increased frequency

Gaming

  • Occupancy limits in gaming areas will be cut by 50%
  • Dealers will offer complimentary pumps of hand sanitizer to table games players
  • Slot players will see chairs in front of every other gaming machine. The machines not in use will be shut off to maintain safe distancing
  • Some casinos will use plexiglass at the table games and casino cage to enforce distancing

Dining

  • Restaurants and bars have rearranged seating to adhere to the social distancing rules
  • Digital menus will be made available to view on mobile devices
  • Rather than waiting in line, guests will receive text messages when their table is ready
  • Most casino restaurants will require advanced reservations

Lodging

  • Casinos will open with less than half of their total hotel room availability
  • Casinos will waive parking fees
  • To minimize interaction, some casinos will be enforcing a contactless check-in process done though their app

Employees

  • Casino employees will be required to undergo COVID-19 testing prior to returning to work and will be tested regularly after that
  • Employees will receive training on health and cleanliness protocols prior to opening
  • Employees will be required to wear masks and gloves
