The reality of 2020 has reinforced that extraordinary circumstances can immediately change our perspective on work, relationships, and life in general. It has definitely taught me to not only be more compassionate to others, but more importantly, to be kinder and forgiving to myself.
I was put on furlough from work for a few months this year and quite honestly, it was the best thing ever. It gave me time to do nothing. It gave me time to slow my pace, put things in perspective, and be very grateful for my life.
It is a tough time for many; businesses suffer and people have lost their jobs. Not for a moment do I forget how blessed I am to have worked with such great companies this year. You simply must venture off the Strip to try the Fat Baby from Amano. It is a giant sandwich stuffed with pasta and loads of cheese. It is so huge that how to fit it in your mouth is as challenging as how to finish it. But that’s what makes the whole experience fun and it is pretty damn good.

Buddy V’s is owned by the “Cake Boss” himself, Buddy Valastro. Menu options include a wide array of Italian dishes like Grandma’s Meatballs, prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella sticks, and Spaghetti Bolognese. Vegetarian options include Fettucine Alfredo, Cheese Ravioli, and Eggplant Parmesan which is one of my favorites.

I had so much fun creating my charcuterie board here. The instructor was nice and made it very easy to follow along with her step-by-step instructions. There are snacks and beverages for purchase. The Yu Sheng salad with slices of salmon was amazing and the Lucky Jie dessert, designed to look like a lucky Chinese knot for good fortune, was exquisite!

We had so much fun doing a restaurant crawl through Hawthorn Grill, Jade Asian Kitchen, and Spiedini Ristorante (temporarily closed). I often say how much I love JW Marriot restaurants because I truly do. I live close so I am here quite often. I love the Rock Shrimp Crunch appetizer at Jade and their Asian Pear Martini. I love the Calamari and Lobster Ravioli at Spiedini. When at Hawthorn Grill, I order a Surf & Turf or the Braised Short Ribs.

I had the opportunity to try the brunch menu here and it was simply divine. The dining area was lovely and I really enjoyed the butler-style service of small plates for big appetites like mine! Favorites were the Baked Potato loaded with Tater Tots, Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict, French Toast, and the Snickers Pancake!
