So, I am late to the party. It wouldn’t be the first time; after all, I like to make a grand entrance. The installation of the Seven Magic Mountains was done in May of 2016. I only went to visit the site this past weekend. The two year exhibition, by renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, is located on Las Vegas Boulevard towards Jean. You can also hop on the I-15 and take the exit marked Seven Magic Mountains.

You have most likely seen photos of them all over your Instagram feed over the past year and a half. They are seven glorious pillars, stacked with boulders painted in the happiest colors you will ever see, and monumentally standing thirty to thirty-five feet high into the air. Walking amongst the Seven Magic Mountains is like walking through a street at Disneyland. It is almost animated like Toon Town or like you are floating through clouds of cotton candy. The bright colors evoke a sense of overwhelming happiness against the barren desert where they stand. Behind the tall, colorful pillars is Jean Dry Lake, a popular spot for photographers to have fashion shoots.

Is it worth seeing? Absolutely! It is one of the largest land-based installations completed in forty years, took the artist and his team five years to take this from concept to completion, and cost $3.5 million dollars! Besides, it makes for a fabulous Instagram photograph. #love

Here is a video I took walking up to the art installation.  It is quite the site to see. The video is a bit shaky because I was walking on a unpaved, dirt ground. Do not wear your best pair of shoes.
