You know it’s funny, I wanted to start a blog site so I could write. I wanted to share my voice and point of view to a big audience online. I thought, okay, I am going write whatever I want, publish the blogs whenever I want and people can read them whenever they feel like logging on to my website. I was going to write thought-provoking articles and funny stories from my daily life, written with dry humor which really is my writing style. Two months into having my blog site, I haven’t had the chance to do any of that. I have discovered that if there weren’t very many people visiting my site, then there wasn’t a great motivation to be writing those kinds of articles, at least not yet.

The Beautiful Las Vegas Strip

I knew I had to find an audience. Outside of my blogging life, that has always been easy. I have my personal Facebook and Instagram accounts, and I have quite a few friends who follow me. If I post a picture of my puppy, Tini, my friends and family will instantly like it. No problem. So, I thought to myself, okay let me create social accounts for my blog site. Then I would get followers who eventually would go read my blogs. Easy schmeasy peasy. THEN, I could go write that article that was going to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Engaging in social media is easy for me. In fact, I personally think I am fairly good at it because I enjoy it. On my personal accounts, I post constantly about the concerts or events I attend, the food I am eating or the places I visit. It was something I was already doing so it was easy for me to just take all of that and move it to my blog site’s social channels. I have only added a Twitter account, but have not changed my lifestyle in order to accommodate my blog or to gain followers. I have learned to use hashtags; this is something I never used before.

Events in Las Vegas

It has been quite wonderful to discover that people I don’t know actually find what I have been doing all along rather interesting. The concerts I attend, the restaurants I eat at or the places I visit in Las Vegas are of interest to people. Because of this, my focus for my blog has shifted. People have started to visit my site and comment about how they didn’t know about certain things I blogged about in Las Vegas or thanked me for sharing things about this great city. So I realized that maybe this was my calling for my blog. I am here to share my wonderful life in Las Vegas because truly, this town has so many exciting things happening that do not happen in other cities. I always think EVERYONE has been to Las Vegas, but I have received comments on my blogs or social posts from people all over the world who have said they have never been here and have thanked me for showing them what Las Vegas looks like. I think that is pretty amazing!

I am still going to infuse some thought-provoking blog or funny personal story here and there, but for the most part, I think I will continue to write about this sparkly city that I so love. I want to share it with all of you because I really love living here. When I say in my social posts or one of my blogs that you should come for a visit, I truly mean it. It really is a great city.
