While many states are bracing themselves for snow next week, visitors to Las Vegas can expect to see temperatures in the low seventies all week. Needless to say, we have already sprung into spring! I am not complaining though, especially when I had the opportunity to view the NARS 2018 Spring Color Collection over the weekend. The neutral hues, with the soft pinks and touches of shimmer in this collection, have put me in the mood for the upcoming season. Spring it on!
The event was held at the NARS boutique at the Forum Shops at Caesers
Palace and organized by fashion stylist, Christie Moeller. I love these events. Not only do I have the chance to view new collections and enjoy cocktails, but the NARS team invites one of their makeup artists to do demonstrations and share makeup tips. Thank you to the lovely Saffire Cherry for sharing the most insightful makeup tips especially for someone like me who loves makeup, but can always benefit from tips on proper application.
Without further ado, introducing the new 2018 Spring Color Collection with some product information and tips from Saffire:
Liquid Blush: Hot Tin Roof
The limited edition Hot Tin Roof is described as a shimmering brick red shade, however, it applies more like a rose color depending on how much you put on. Applying blush has always been a challenge for me. I often think I look like Santa Claus when I put it on with a little too much on the apples of my cheeks. While it is cute for Santa, it is definitely not my best look.
– This is highly pigmented so one to two drops is all you need. Warm it in the palm of your hand before applying. The heat will soften the texture to allow for a smoother application.
– This has buildable and blendable coverage. Always start with one drop and dab or pat on your cheeks, rather than stroking it on.
– If you apply too much, blend a little foundation over your cheeks to tone the color down.
Highlighting Blush: Free Soul
Free Soul is a light, shimmery shade of pink. It is a powder blush that can be worn alone or over another blush shade to add a little sparkle to your cheeks. Saffire applied this to our model for the night who had an olive complexion and another whose skin was more fair. I love the versatility of this shade because it looked gorgeous on both polar opposite skin tones!
Lip Covers: Embrasse Moi, Hell Gate, Summer Fire and Under Arrest
I LOVE all the limited edition shades in this collection. Typically, there is always a certain shade in a collection that doesn’t quite suit you, but all of these shades are perfect to transition from a day to evening look. I tried these lip covers and they are so richly pigmented. One glide over your lips gives you that velvety smooth finish without feeling sticky. They also can be layered over darker, matte shades to give your lips a luminous glow.
Velvet Shadow Sticks: Galice and Frioul
To round out this collection are the Velvet Shadow Sticks in Galice and Frioul. They give your eyes that standout, metallic finish when worn alone. When worn as a base shadow, it adds extra intensity to another eye shadow. It lasts for many hours without giving you that shadow crease on your eyelid.
