It’s becoming a “thing” of mine to go to the US Open every year. I say that because it makes me sound like I am a tennis aficionado and well, it kind of makes me sound cool. Truth be told, it is only my second time going to the Open and I am not, by any means, a tennis aficionado. I am, however, very cool haha.
I have been very lucky. The first time I went was last year. I got courtside tickets to watch the 2016 US Open at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. As luck would have it, someone very famous was playing and I knew who she was – Serena Williams! I sat so close to her that I could actually hear her mutter under her breath. It was truly a memorable experience. Andy Murray also played that night!
At this year’s Open, I watched the matches at the temporary Louis Armstrong stadium. I didn’t get to see anyone I knew play (Svitolina vs. Siniakova) and it rained so heavily in New York that the game I was watching was cancelled! It rained for hours. We eventually had to leave because the rain would not stop! Here is some footage of that game.
Because Serena is pregnant this year, she was not playing. But as luck would have it, I was invited to watch Venus Williams’ exclusive Meet and Greet with her fans so I did get to see a famous tennis player after all. She is so cute! If you look at the video of both Serena and Venus, she is so much leaner than her sister. In between photos with her fans, she would do cute little dances! She is so much fun. She even brought her adorable little puppy, Harry! Here is Venus.
Here is footage of Serena from the 2016 US Open. These are all videos taken by me and on my YouTube channel In and Out of Vegas.
Below are some photos for you of Serena from the 2016 US Open and of Venus Williams from the 2017 US Open from her Meet and Greet with her fans. Enjoy!
I am not a huge fan of Tennis, but reading this makes me wanna become one.
